I know it's been a really long time since I've posted. Sorry about that. I don't even remember the last thing I wrote about.
So here's a recap.
Everything is fine here in Kure. Last weekend was my JHS culture fest. Though to those who haven't experienced a culture fest before, it's basicallly school culture, not Japanese culture. There was some speeches in English, singing contest between all the classes and some bands playing. All around it was a good time, but a bit annoying that they always fall on a weekend. Because all the teachers and students participate in the culture fest on a weekend they get monday off. Unfortunetly, I work at a diffrent school on monday and I don't get that day off.
I'm here today at my tuesday school where, like every other tuesday for the past two months, teachers are scrambling because suddenly they have English, and didn't schedule it in. (DISPITE THERE IS A GODDAMN SCHEDULE ON THE GODDAMN BOARD AND I'M HERE EVERY GODDAMN TUESDAY Dispite that the teachers make a schedule a month in advance and keep it where they can all see it. ) When this happens usually classes get moved around. Suddenly science is in the 5th period not 4th, or English classes get moved to the next week. After this happening a few times I made sure to mention to teachers the week before that, hey, English next week, 3rd period, keep that open.
Today, as per usual, I came in to find the English schedule a mess of red with things being moved around. Moments before 3rd period (English) was about to start the teacher said, "Oh, um, English in 6th period Ok? I forgot science is in the 3rd period. " Sure. Whatever. Sigh. ALT award winning smile.
To their defence, these classes are in Elementary school and they are in the first 4 grades of Elementary. Only in the past 2 years or so has English been manditory in grades 5 and 6 but it isn't manditory in grades 1-4. So they're not used to having an extra subject put into their schedule once a month.
But still. I could have knit a scarf waiting around for classes these days.
Now, I have only two classes today, in 5th and 6th period. I've spent the whole morning prepping for this week and today's lessons, so atleast I've been a bit busy. Now it's jsut a matter of waiting for Elementary School Lunch.
I'm not sure I have the words to properly describe how much I love lunch in ES. Usually it's nothing special veggy/meat soup, rice or bread, milk and some other starchy protein. But really, I love it so much. It makes me happy. So happy. Perhaps because when I first started teaching here at my tuesday school I'd have more than two classes a day and they'd be in the morning. So by the time lunch rolled around the whole school smelled amazing and I'd be hungry as a wolf.
In other news, last year I went as Pikachu for Halloween, this year I'm working on a totoro costume. It won't be a giant fur suit sadly. But it should be recognizable.
LUNCH IS HERE OMG YAY.

For the record, I did in fact make a long entry last night to http://www.eslmichelle.blogspot.com all about my dad and his wife, Georgia's trip to Japan.
Dang, It's been so long since I posted on my live journal. A real post that is, not just links to my other blog. Infact, the last time I made an actual post here, I was still in Canada. I still check LJ every day though.
To be honest, I don't have a huge amount that I feel I should write about. Everyday is an adventure, sure, but it's also the same adventure every day. Get up, go to school, teach classes, come home, eat dinner, play video games/ watch a movie/ read a book. Every weekend for the past two months I've had something to do. Last weekend I visited my schools sports festival and then volunteered at a children's picture book reading charity event. The weekend before that I had ceramics class twice, once on saturday and then again on sunday. The weekend before that I did something too, but I can't remember what....
There's supposed to be a typhoon heading this way on Sunday/Monday, and it's possible that I won't have any classes on Monday. If I did though, I would be teaching grade 5 elementary school.
It's been over 6 months since November and my last hardcore study event. I've decided to give it a go again and hit the books hard with a greater goal this time around. My goal for November was pretty small, especially considering the many many hours a day people were putting into their nanowrimos. (my goal was for 45 minutes a day, Monday - Friday, for the record.) This time around, I'm aiming for a full hour, every day. I know it seems small, but when you've been out of school for so long, your mind isn't used to studying for long periods of time. I love textbooks, but I'm too lazy to study. Sigh.
Two days ago, Mike shaved off his beard, and now I hardly recognize him. I haven't seen him without facial hair since we started dating. And that was only once. When I asked him what inspired him to shave he said, "I dunno, I just couldn't really remember what my face looked like under there."

ONE MORE DAY. LEAVING TOMORROWWWW
Updating my todo list with only 2 DAYS LEFT IN VICTORIA. OMGGUHH
-Increase the limit on my Visa
-Give my mom power of my bank account stuff
-Cancel cell phone
-Find presents to bring future principals
-Renew my Visa
-Find entertainment for the flight
-see the rest of friends and family
- Get some tim hortons for Shota
-Pack suitcases
My mom gave me another suitcase that she had in her storage space that was taking up waaaayy too much room. This damn thing is ginourmous. Air canada allows us 2 bags with total size adding up to 62" each this one just makes it under the cut at 60. At this rate, I might actually go over the weight limit of 50 pounds before I get it actually full. I'm hoping to fit all my clothes into it so I have one less suitcase to worry about. However, I'm still allowed to bring over one more. Maybe I'll stick Mike's PS3 in that one, with my hiking boots, and my big red jacket that I thought I wasn't going to bring. (great story, I know, I should tell that one agian some time.)
In other news, I found out that instead of Waffles' anxiety drops, my mom's been accidentally giving him a catnip spray into his water every morning. No wonder the cat's been totoally bonkers. Last night she said he was soo good. She didn't hear a peep out of him all night, then she explained it was because she accidentally locked him out on the balcony the entire night o_O........ He pooped on the mat and peed a little, but when she opened the door he came running in and went right to the litter box. Poor guy ahhaha. At least it was a nice night!
okso, time to... call visa I guess.
